Job Description:
Every day, millions of brands, sellers, and customers rely on
Amazon’s marketplace integrity. The Intellectual Property
Protection (IPP) team’s vision is to build a world free of
counterfeits and infringing products—where customers feel confident
in every purchase and brands can safely grow their businesses. Our
team designs and operates large-scale, machine learning–driven
systems that detect, evaluate, and remediate problematic content
across Amazon’s global catalog. We are seeking a highly technical,
high-judgment Principal Product Manager – Tech to lead the next
generation of ML-powered detection and automated enforcement
systems. This role will own end-to-end product strategy for
large-scale machine learning infrastructure spanning natural
language processing, computer vision, multimodal models, and large
language model–powered systems. These systems operate across
billions of listings worldwide and must perform with high
precision, durability, and measurable business impact. This is a
deeply ML-centric role. You will be responsible for scaling
production machine learning platforms across multiple marketplaces
and languages, driving sustained improvements in precision and
recall at global scale, and making high-impact tradeoff decisions
that balance automation, operational cost, customer trust, and
brand protection. You will define rigorous evaluation
methodologies, design benchmarking and experimentation frameworks,
establish and maintain golden datasets, and ensure models move from
research to secure, scalable production systems. A core focus of
this role is the productionization of Generative AI and agentic
solutions in the IP infringement domain. You will move advanced
GenAI capabilities beyond experimentation into durable,
high-throughput systems that operate reliably in high-sensitivity
environments. This includes partnering directly with applied
scientists to understand model limitations, evaluate failure modes,
and determine when to prioritize performance gains versus
operational stability and risk management. The ideal candidate has
led ML platform initiatives at enterprise or marketplace scale. You
are comfortable operating at the intersection of science,
engineering, and executive business strategy. You understand how to
translate ambiguous abuse patterns into precise model requirements,
how to evaluate model performance rigorously, and how to make
principled deployment decisions that scale safely across large
organizations. Key job responsibilities As a Principal Product
Manager – Tech, you will: • Define and drive the multi-year
technical product strategy for large-scale machine learning systems
that detect and remediate problematic content across billions of
listings globally. • Own end-to-end ML platform initiatives, from
ambiguous problem definition through model evaluation, deployment,
and global scale-out. • Establish precision and recall targets tied
directly to customer trust, brand protection, and operational
efficiency outcomes. • Design and implement rigorous benchmarking
frameworks, golden datasets, and experimentation pipelines to
measure model performance and durability. • Lead the
productionization of Generative AI and agentic systems, moving
advanced LLM-powered capabilities from prototype to secure,
high-throughput production services. • Make high-judgment
deployment decisions, balancing model performance gains with system
stability, false positive risk, and business impact. • Partner
deeply with applied scientists and engineers to understand model
limitations, failure modes, and tradeoffs across NLP, computer
vision, and multimodal systems. • Drive architectural decisions
that enable automation-first enforcement while reducing manual
operational burden at scale. • Translate complex abuse patterns and
emerging threat vectors into technically precise requirements that
engineering teams can build against. • Influence executive
leadership by clearly articulating ML performance tradeoffs, risk
exposure, and long-term platform investment strategy. A day in the
life In this role, you’ll lead large-scale machine learning systems
that protect customers and brands across billions of listings
worldwide. A typical day might include reviewing model performance
with scientists, debating precision and recall trade-offs, refining
benchmarking frameworks, or deciding whether a new generative AI
capability is ready for global rollout. You’ll partner closely with
engineers, data teams, and policy stakeholders to move models from
experimentation into stable production systems. You’ll translate
ambiguous abuse patterns into measurable ML requirements and
present clear, data-backed recommendations to senior leaders. The
work is technical, high-judgment, and focused on building durable
AI systems that operate reliably at global scale. About the team
