Job Description:
Description
Position Overview
The Director, Process Improvement is a crucial enabler of process
improvement and applies the skills of business & process consulting
to lead process improvement & change within the organization. The
Director must live the Lean principles and techniques that focus on
optimizing value through a fact-based decision process. This
catalyst's key role is to oversee and direct process improvement in
cross-functional teams to help them achieve business goals and to
support constructive change from an improvement project's
conception onward and to transfer the ownership to the appropriate
teams as the project matures to implementation. The Director should
always be aware of the enterprise-wide implications of the changes
at the work-team level. Understanding the characteristics of
changing toward a Lean Enterprise will allow thinking "two steps
ahead" of the current focus of activity and assure that the overall
value stream realizes the benefits of local improvements. It is
important for the Director to initiate & drive to completion the
end to end process definition, across functions. The goal behind
the process mapping exercise would be to instigate/lead the right
discussions preceding/during/after the introduction of changes and
improve the uptake/success of the overall initiative. The outcome
would be clarity among the various stakeholders on the AS-IS and
TO-BE processes as well as buy-in for the same. The role would be
measured by the cost/productivity gains to the organization, from
the investment in said changes.
