Outcomes-Driven Orientation: Sets clear objectives, pursues excellence, and delivers measurable outcomes while upholding Jesuit Catholic values.Position DescriptionThe Directorof Broadcast Production & Technology leads the productionand broadcast operations for Seattle University Athletics, overseeing liveevent coverage, content creation, and strategic multimedia initiatives. Thisrole ensures high-quality broadcasts in partnership with the West CoastConference (WCC) and ESPN, manages technical operations, and collaborates withinternal and external stakeholders to enhance the university's digitalpresence. The Directorof Broadcast Production & Technology supports video boardproductions, develops original content and drives innovation in videoproduction to elevate the Seattle U Athletics brand.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the generalguidance and direction of the Associate AD for Strategic Communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of productionfor all home basketball, soccer, baseball, softball and volleyballcontests, producing approximately 80-100 athletic events a year as part ofthe West Coast Conference partnership with ESPN+.
  • Recruit, develop, supervise and trainstudent and contract staff for operation of broadcast equipment and venuetechnical equipment, as well as on-air talent.
  • Serve as an Engineer-in-Chief forbasketball broadcasts and other sports as assigned and fill variousgameday productionroom roles as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison to Conference,ESPN and any other digital or linear television partners, ensuringqualitystandards are met.
  • Maintain broadcast and productionequipment and conductfunctional and operational testing procedures to ensure qualityperformance of broadcast and production equipment.
  • Accountable to troubleshoot and resolveafter-hours critical issues impacting productions, on-air technical look,and/or overall performance of broadcast and production equipment andsystems.
  • Collaborate with communications,marketing and sponsorship units to plan and execute content thatmeetsdepartment goals and objectives. Original content may includefeatures, promotions, video board projects, commercials and other specialprojects that can be distributed through multiple platforms.
  • Serve as a member of theAthletics external team and attend weekly meetingswithrepresentatives from other external units.
  • Acquire and distribute highlights, meltsor full event digital archives of televised/streamed events upon request.
  • Manage the complete video library forthe Seattle U Athletics Department.
  • Set up shoots, events and interviews,including sound, lighting, cameras and backgrounds.
  • Strategically plan to meet future needsof Athletics video production and broadcast operations.This position is full-time and may require occasional overtime,particularly during peak periods or special projects. We anticipateapproximately $70,000 in total compensation including overtime. While actualovertime hours may vary, candidates should expect some evening or weekend workas needed to support departmental goals.Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five (5) years of appropriate experience.
    • Experience in live video production, knowledge of non-linear video editing systems and knowledge of post-production software.
    • Familiarity with modern broadcast cabling infrastructure used in broadcast environments.
    • Experience in a collaborative, team-first environment, demonstrated creative and strategic thinking, superior problem-solving skills and ability to lead/mentor a technical student production staff.
    • Knowledge of videoboard production in a sports and entertainment facility.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including external vendors in creating a live event production.
    • Knowledge in Adobe video and design software including Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.
    • Knowledge of audio, lighting, cabling and equipment management.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends are required.
    • Compliance with the rules and regulations of Seattle University, the NCAA, Conference and any other governing body of importance to the University.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Work experience with the following: Ross Video switchers; Evertz Dreamcatcher Replay systems; Unity Communications Systems; and Sony, IP-based and PTZ broadcast camera systems.
      • Applicable knowledge of SDI and XLR termination.
      • Baseline knowledge of IT and data networking required to work in an increasingly IP and IT-centric broadcast/multimedia infrastructure.
      • Strong technical background in video and audio engineering, live streaming support and/or electrical connectivity.
      • Experience working in Division I college athletics department.

        Salary Range: $33.00 - $35.00

        Seattle University has provided a compensation range that representsits good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at thetime of posting.
