Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:Starting October 15, 2021:As part of the Tribe's
continuing efforts to prioritize the health and wellbeing of its
employees and those the Tribe serves, the Tribe will require that
the individual who fills this role be fully vaccinated against
COVID-19 unless medically unable to receive any COVID-19
vaccine.
Under general supervision, provides professional speech, language
and hearing services to students at the Muckleshoot Tribal
School.MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Screens, evaluates, diagnoses and treats communication-based
disorders and/or delays in young children uses various
methodologies including individual, small group, and speech and
language curriculum.
- Uses appropriate treatment methods for receptive and expressive
language disabilities, aural habilitation/rehabilitation,
articulation and voice disorders, stuttering and development of
alternative means of communication (e.g. sign language, etc.)
- Conducts and/or coordinates speech, language and audio logy
screenings.
- Makes medical, audiological or other referrals as appropriate;
maintains records of communication evaluations, medical history,
treatment, training and follow-up care.
- Conducts training for lay and professional staff concerning
speech, language and hearing disabilities; participates in planning
orientation and training of personnel.
- Assists in budget preparation for speech, language and hearing
identification treatment program.
- Prepares evaluations, various reports, goals and objectives,
documentation and correspondence as required.
- Schedules and participates in MDT, IFSP and/or IEP
meetings.
- Participates in various program and Tribal meetings; meets with
specialists, representatives of other divisions, governmental
agencies, other organizations and agencies.
- Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the
well being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform
a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such
duties may or may not be related to their regular
responsibilities.EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:A
Master's Degree in speech/language pathology; Washington State
Certification in Speech Pathology; and one (1) year of related
experience in a clinical setting is required.SPECIFIC
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION:Knowledge: speech
and language acquisition, neurological, cognitive, social and
emotional development, anatomy and physiology of auditory and vocal
mechanisms and disorders, specialized equipment and testing
techniques used in evaluation and treatment of articulation,
language, hearing and voice disorders, evaluation and remedial
procedures for sensori-neural learning handicaps and dysphasia's,
principles and techniques of communication disorders,
identification and treatment, principles and techniques of aural
habilitation/rehabilitation, educational and psychological needs of
persons with communications disorders, theories of learning,
diagnostic and treatment techniques of otolaryngologists,
orthodontists and posthodontists, community resources in speech and
hearing rehabilitation.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequently required to
sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands
and arms to reach.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Continuous use of Vision.Licenses or Certifications Required:
Washington State Certification in Speech Pathology
