Position Summary

The Paper Tree Bookstore at Green River College provides the necessary books and supplies to meet the academic needs of our students. It also offers a variety of products and services such as faxing, movie rentals, UPS delivery, special orders, educational software, ID cards, gift cards, balloon bouquets, and more. The PaperTree is institutionally owned and all the profits remain on campus.

The Bookstore Supervisor oversees the work of bookstore clerks, check stand operators, temporary staff and others. This position manages cashiering functions, provides and models outstanding customer service, and performs additional operational duties. Position Responsibilities

Primary Role Responsibilities

  • Manages all cashiering functions
  • Orders all supplies needed for the cashiering operation
  • Provides customer service in all areas of the bookstore
  • Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of the bookstore clerks, check stand operators, temporary staff and/or others
  • Recommends disciplinary action for employees
  • Prepares all paperwork for newly hired employees
  • Schedules and supervises work study employees
  • Reviews and authorizes payroll for all part time, temporary and work study employees
  • Performs data entry and reporting for all financial aid and department accounts
  • Handles cash register voids, refunds, price overrides, etc.
  • Reconciles the bank deposit report with our records
  • Prepares daily bank deposits
  • Manages weekly balancing of safe and maintaining appropriate levels of petty cash
  • Prepares all reports needed by the business office
  • Maintains logs and paperwork required by business office
  • Performs related duties as required

Secondary Role Responsibilities

  • Operation of cash registers when needed
  • Buy back books from students, retag and shelve
  • Performs opening and closing operation of the store when needed
  • Makes student ID cards when needed
  • Provide customer service for fax and lamination services when needed
  • Provide assistance to other areas when needed
  • Provides assistance on machine rentals
  • Travel to branch campuses as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED

Two years of experience in retail sales and merchandising

Two years of experience in customer service

Two years of experience with retail supervisory or managerial responsibilities

Superior attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent money handling and cashiering skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Accounting skills

Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within six months/reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Point of Sale inventory system
