JOB TITLE: Emergency Medical Technician -- Basic (EMT-B)

GAMING LICENSE REQUIRED: Class III A

GRADE: N11

STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt

POSITION REPORTS TO: Security Shift Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The EMT provides emergency medical services to team members and guests with a high level of guest service; maintains supplies and equipment in a state of readiness; quickly assesses life-threatening emergencies and provides appropriate care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The statements describe the general nature and level of work only. They are not an exhaustive list of all required responsibilities, duties, and skills. Other duties may be added, or this description may be amended, at any time.

  1. Practice, support and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Muckleshoot Casino.

  2. Respond to all medical assistance on Casino property.

  3. Assess quickly all life-threatening conditions, provide Basic Life Support.

  4. Conduct daily inventory and inspections of equipment.

  5. Provide basic health services for guests and team members until emergency response arrives.

  6. Provide aid with CPR and First Aid training as directed.

  7. Maintain a written log of incidents involving guests or team members; prepare additional detailed reports, as may be required.

  8. Assess the injured or sick individuals' need; if necessary, arrange for the dispatching of rescue units (Ambulance, helicopter, etc.)

  9. Adhere to health, fire, and safety regulations, identifies potential safety hazards and reports such to the appropriate personnel.

  10. Maintain a current awareness of facilities Disaster Plans and responds appropriately.

  11. Remain current and up to date with training concerning emergency medicine and basic life support techniques.

  12. Create, maintain and facilitate a positive work environment.

  13. Smile and engage Guests and Team Members with a positive demeanor.

  14. Perform Security Officer duties, as assigned.

  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS (required/preferred):

  • Must possess and maintain current CPR and Washington State Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) Certificate, required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License, required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING FOR POSITION (required/preferred):

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 18 months' current experience in an EMT role required.
  • Previous security, military or civilian police officer training and/or experience preferred.

ON-SITE TEST REQUIRED: All tests are either distributed in person at the Human Resources Office or distributed during the interview process.

  • Written Report Skills Test.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Applicants will be required to successfully pass a "physical exam" to determine physically capability of performing the required tasks of the position.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of emergency medical procedures, first aid, CPR and basic life support techniques.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of security and risk policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, positive mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English; both in oral and written form. Read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide clear verbal and written instructions, prepare reports, and documents necessary to perform tasks.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to investigate incidents, interview witnesses and draft legible, factual reports.
  • Exhibit excellent guest service, problem solving, conflict management and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrate physical ability to access all areas of the property.
  • Utilize portable radio or cell phone to be in constant contact for the Department as needed.
  • Working knowledge of health & safety standards, and safety regulations as required.

JOB DEMANDS

PHYSICAL

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Shift work, holidays, weekends, or nights may be assigned.

Ability to maneuver in all areas of casino, ascent/descent from stairs, frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching, and/or prolonged periods of time focusing on tasks. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. May regularly need to lift/ move, push or pull up material or boxes necessary to the job functions, with or without assistance, and from 50 up to 200 lbs.

Specific vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Visual acuity to discern and examine text, graphics, color and symmetry. Speech to communicate clearly, express ideas and convey information in an understandable manner. Ability to hear for listening comprehension and to understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Manual dexterity to operate office or required equipment and examine or update documents, records, data, instructions, logs, and files.

MENTAL Social perceptiveness to assess and understand other's reactions and behavior. Critical thinking to use logic and reasoning, reach conclusions/solutions. Comprehension in assessing, analyzing, and processing alpha, numeric, and visual data and completing required tasks or documents accurately. Ability to tolerate stress and conduct tasks under critical deadlines. Ability to concentrate on task over a period of time without being distracted.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing functions of his/her job and in areas monitored by security or surveillance cameras. Work in casino operations and/or internal or external environments. Exposure to secondhand smoke, moderate to high noise level, bright lights, fluctuating temperatures or weather conditions. Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations.
