We are looking for a Safety Leader for our CHS Northwest business unit located in Western Washington. You will develop, implement, and champion local safety policies and programs in alignment with Country Operations strategy to provide a visible leadership presence in all work areas. • Develop, implement and champion local safety policies and programs in alignment with Country Operations strategy to provide a visible leadership presence in all work areas.
• Drive awareness and accountability to influence others toward the improvement of operational processes to build a strong and sustainable safety culture.
• Lead the safety committee and create and customize safety trainings regarding CHS policies and procedures, federal regulations and proper use of equipment.
• Ensure training for new hires, monthly safety meetings, and annual refresher training for employees and keep records of the meetings and trainings.
• Perform regular safety audits on facilities, machinery, products and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and environmental concerns as well as ensure company and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain and audit all DOT and safety related records for completion to ensure compliance regulations are met.
• Act as liaison with local, state and federal inspectors during inspections and then develop and implement strategies to resolve any issues identified.
• Ensure timely reporting of accidents, near-miss incidents and other occupational injuries in order to investigate, determine causes and implement preventive measures.
• Conduct variance and quality assurance investigations when applicable. Coordinate with management on facility improvement projects by researching requirements, providing options, obtaining proposals, evaluating safety and compliance issues and recommending vendors.
• Supervise, review, coach and train assigned safety team.
• Travel local up to 50% of the time.
• Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
• Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Minimum Qualifications (required)
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or SafetyAdditional Qualifications
    • Agriculture background, facility operation, and management experience -
    • Supervisory experience
    • Ability to complete OSHA 30 hour construction training certification program
    • Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field

      • Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment is needed to inspect facilities
