Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for a Crane Operator to join our team in Auburn, WA.
Operate radio or pendant overhead cranes to lift, move, and position aircraft assemblies, equipment, and/or materials. Employment in this position also requires handling, standing, walking, twisting at the waist, lifting and carrying less than 10 pounds, lifting and carrying 10-35 pounds, lifting more than 35 pounds, reaching, rotation of head/neck, contact with metals, exposure to noise and atmospheric conditions, and the use of personal safety gear for face/eye, hand/arm, ears and feet.
Position Responsibilities:



  • Operators typically receive their assignments by coordinating with shop, radio from the dispatcher or sign up book.


  • Operate crane with help of crew on the floor, as required. Hook up, lift, and move airplane parts, tools and raw material in the factory.


  • Operate multi-hook radio controlled cranes, as required.


  • Select, secure, and adjust suitable chains, cables, slings, hooks, and other lifting and securing devices to properly perform required lift and move.


  • Calculate safe load requirements prior to lifting so as not to exceed lift capacity.


  • Use hand and/or audible signals to guide the movements of cab or radio controlled cranes and mobile cranes.


  • Inspect condition of the crane and all equipment to be used to perform work assignment.


  • Report any malfunctioning or unsafe equipment.


  • Assist new employees to become familiar with equipment and procedures.


  • Ability control 60 to 100-foot spreader bars, vaculifts, and material movers successfully through cross overs and the full length of a million square foot building.


  • Ability to lay down up to 100-foot plate product without damage.


    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
    The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):


    • Must be physically able to lift 35 or more pounds during a shift.


    • Must be able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel?


      Typical Education:
      High school graduate or GED preferred.
      Relocation:
      This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
      Shift:
      This position is for 2nd Shift.

      • This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.

        Summary Pay Range:
        $19 - $41.62 an hour
